Happy Fall, Y’all!
The Fall Spirit is in the air! September brings crisp mornings, a gentle breeze, and the first hint of leaves changing colors. Autumn is just around the corner, and here at RCI’s Adult Day Program, we couldn’t wait to dive into the season’s magic. We’ve been busy with crafts and activities that celebrate the vibrant energy of fall and welcome the new season with open arms!
How About Them Apples?
With apple-picking season in full swing, we embraced some “apple-solutely” delightful activities. From creating “Fruit Loop Apple Trees” to crafting “Paper Plate Apple Pies” and “Coffee Filter Apples,” we’ve been making “core” memories while celebrating the humble apple. Each Fall Spirit activity has been a chance to embrace the spirit of fall while enjoying the colors and textures that apples bring to the season.
Sunkissed Sunflowers
Fall wouldn’t be the same without sunflowers! These bright, beautiful blooms are a cheerful reminder of the harvest season, and they symbolize joy, friendship, and happiness. Our participants dove into a few sunflower-themed projects, including “Sunflower Garland” and “Cardboard Sunflower Mason Jars.” These lovely crafts brought an extra dose of sunshine to our program room!
Happy Camper
Camping is even more magical in the fall! With cooler weather, vibrant foliage, and no mosquitoes, autumn is the ideal time to enjoy the outdoors. Our day program’s “happy campers” had a blast creating “Paper Bag Lanterns,” “Camping Story Stones,” “Tie-Dye Hankies,” and “Nature Suncatchers.” Each Fall Spirit craft reminded us that exploring nature, even indoors, can be a perfect way to soak in the seasonal spirit.
Autumn Animals
As the days get shorter, animals like squirrels, owls, raccoons, and foxes are busy preparing for winter. In honor of these hardworking critters, our participants made “Newspaper Print Raccoons,” “Dixie Cup Squirrels,” and “Cupcake Liner Owls.” We had a great time learning about each animal and bringing them to life in our Fall Spirit crafts, adding a whimsical touch of wildlife to our autumn adventures.
Safari Tour
One of the highlights of the season was our exciting trip to Jungle Jim’s for a guided tour! Our participants got to explore the store, learn about the wide variety of foods, and even sample some delicious treats. Although we frequently visit Jungle Jim’s, this tour revealed just how much the store has to offer and gave us a new appreciation for the many unique items on display. It was a fun and flavorful experience for everyone!
