🎃 October Fun at Residential Concepts!
October has been such a fun and festive month here at Residential Concepts! Our teams fully embraced the spooky spirit of the season with a lineup of creative crafts, tasty treats, and hands-on sensory projects that brought plenty of smiles to our participants and staff alike.
👻 Spooky Crafts Galore
This month was all about ghosts, ghouls, and Halloween creativity! Our craft tables were filled with glue, paint, and imagination as everyone joined in on a variety of themed projects. Some of our favorites included Ghost Garlands, Milk Jug Haunted Houses, Ghost Portraits, Bat Bottle Cap Magnets, Q-Tip Skeletons, Halloween Glue Ghosts, Potion Jars, Monster Signs, Paper Plate Frankensteins, and Witches’ Brooms—just to name a few!
One of the standout crafts was our Spell Books. Using old books as a base, participants covered them with tissue paper for a distressed texture, painted them, and added 3-D details like eyes, snakes, and spooky lettering made from hot glue. Once finished, each “book of spells” looked like it came straight out of a haunted library!
🎃 A Visit to Shaw Farms
We couldn’t celebrate October without a classic fall outing—a trip to Shaw Farms! Everyone had a great time exploring the pumpkin patch and picking their perfect pumpkins to bring back to the Day Program. Later, we carved our pumpkins together, turning them into fun (and sometimes scary!) jack-o’-lanterns that brightened up the space for Halloween.
🕷️ Monster Noodle Sensory Fun
Things got a little creepy-crawly in the best way with our Monster Noodle Sensory Bins. We made them by cooking and coloring spaghetti noodles, then mixing in toy spiders, bats, bones, and bugs. Participants had a blast exploring the textures and colors—it was the perfect mix of silly and spooky!
🍬 Sweet Treats & Halloween Delights
Of course, no October celebration would be complete without some tasty treats! Everyone enjoyed making (and eating!) Chocolate Pretzel Spiderwebs, Oreo Cookie Spiders, and Witches’ Brew Punch. These festive snacks were as fun to make as they were delicious to share.
💜 Wrapping Up a Wonderful Month
From creative crafts to festive food, October was filled with laughter, imagination, and teamwork. Our participants showed so much creativity and joy as we celebrated all things spooky and seasonal. We’re already looking forward to what November has in store as we shift from ghosts and goblins to gratitude and giving!
