Summer Fun at Residential Concepts

Summer Fun at Residential Concepts Day Program 🌞🎨🐠

We’ve been having the best summer here at the Day Program, packed with creativity, fun, and community spirit! Each week has been filled with exciting themes, hands-on crafts, and plenty of smiles. Here’s just a glimpse of what we’ve been up to:

Farm Animal Week 🐄🐑🐖

We got crafty with tin can cowbells, bubble wrap corn, yarn sheep, pig puffy paintings, and paper plate chickens. The highlight was making edible mud slime and even shaking heavy cream with salt to make our very own homemade butter!

Under the Sea / Ocean Weeks 🌊🐠🦈

The ocean came alive through mermaid necklaces, ocean wave paintings, salt paint jellyfish, pool noodle sharks, and sea anemones. We painted puffer fish with spiky balls, created mason jar aquariums, and made sea urchins from toothpicks and Styrofoam. And of course, the showstopper was our killer watermelon shark fruit bowl!

Luau Week 🌴🌺🌋

Island vibes filled the center with coconut bowling, pineapple paintings, tiki boxes, and fizzing baking soda volcanoes. We made hula girl clothespins and DIY leis to top it all off!

Giving Back to Our Community

Beyond our themed weeks, we’ve also launched a special interest class that focuses on giving back to the community. This summer, we made no-sew dog blankets and toys to deliver to the local animal shelter, spreading love to our furry friends. We also created beautiful centerpieces to share with residents at a local nursing home — and spent time visiting, brightening their day.

When our group isn’t busy helping others, they’re showing off their incredible artistic skills on canvas. We are so proud of their creativity, generosity, and the joy they bring to every activity.

It’s been a summer full of memories, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the year has in store! 🌟
